When you think about your life today, can you find A Reason to Praise? Or do you only see reasons to cry, be angry, have anxiety, or feel disappointed?
I’ve been in the negative camp more times than I would like to admit, even to myself. I remember a time when a friend asked how I was doing, and I couldn’t answer. I wanted to say I was fine, but I wasn’t. Yes, there were good things going on in my life, but there was also a truckload of heartache and struggle. I just stood there until he said,
It’s okay to say that some things in your life are good, and some things are overwhelmingly hard.
It’s a challenge for me to turn away from the extremes of despair and elation, and to live in the reality of joy mixed with pain which is what being a human in a broken world is all about.
Maybe you can relate.
The only way I can live in this balance is to be brutally honest with Jesus; to have enough faith to believe He will not turn away when I am grieving, angry, or disappointed. To hold on to His promise in John 16:33.
In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.
This is my reason to praise, even when the journey is bitter and long. Jesus is with me, and He has overcome the world.
Pray with me: Dear Lord, I choose to trust You today and to praise You regardless of how I feel or how complicated my life and this world is. You say that You are the same yesterday, today, and forever, and I put my faith in that promise. Amen.
