Vision House provides shelter and support, but they do something even more profound. They give people dignity by seeing them, just as Jesus sees them.
One such woman is Alyssa. Alyssa wanted to remain sober and provide a stable environment for her child. She found Vision House and she was finally able to accomplish her goals. This is where they were met with the Gospel in action.
Here is part of her son Wilson’s story:
Yesterday, I saw Wilson and his mom getting out of the car. Wilson, who is only seven or eight years old, was carrying a very thick book. I remarked about the size of the book, and he held up the book and showed me that it was an NIV Bible that he had checked out from the library. He shared with me that he had just gotten his first library card and then recited the policy around renewing it for an extra week if no one else wanted to check the book out. (His mom shared that Wilson has several Bibles, but every time he sees another one, he wants to read it!).
Wilson then looked at me, smiled, and announced, “I am a Christian, you know.” I said, “That is amazing! So you have accepted Jesus as your Savior!” He said, “Yes, and I am going to get baptized!” His mom shared that they had found a church, and they were both looking forward to getting baptized in the coming month.
Both Wilson and his mom have been a part of our Bible studies. What an amazing example of someone who is not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
