In honor of the nearly 50,000 school support staff throughout Washington State, Governor Jay Inslee has declared March 9th – 13th as Classified School Employee Week. SPIRIT 105.3 is recognizing individuals who have distinguished themselves with their professionalism and faithful service to others in public schools. Join us to recognize some of the local men & women serving in our children’s schools? Lynda, a teacher at Sumner Middle School, submitted this entry on behalf of Sonja. Sonja was a paraeducator for Lynda for 2 years. Read more below:
Sonja Kane is amazing in her energy and commitment to working with kids who struggle. She finds innovative ways to motivate reluctant, struggling learners by setting up reward systems that often involve her baking for them. She can take any task, large or small, and get it done in an excellent thorough way. Last year she headed up locker surprises and made sure each student got a fun sign and treat in their locker some time during the year. She encourages staff by bringing in treats and by always smiling. She worked in my classroom for two years and was a tremendous asset to my students.
SPIRIT 105.3 would like to thank Public School Employees of Washington for helping us recognize Unsung Public School Heroes.
