When my husband told me what happened in New Orleans, my heart sank… this is now a terribly familiar feeling, isn’t it? And then these words rose up in my mind and heart… “Be near, Jesus.” That’s my prayer for New Orleans and for us.
Later, I texted our dear friend, Pastor Jess Bradley from Grace Community Church in Auburn, and invited him to be with us on the radio. I invite you to take a moment with us today to think about what it means to take heart. Jesus actually encourages us to do this. He said, “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in Me. Here on earth, you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33 NLT)
I also reached out to our friend Dr. Greg Jantz, from The Center, A Place of Hope in Edmonds, who reminds us that God always walks with us, and the importance of community support and prayer during times of crisis.
The new year is here, and this is our reminder that our hope was never in it. It is in the Lord.
Help us, Lord Jesus, to hope in YOU,
the God of hope.
You are Loved, Erica
