Let’s be honest: it can be difficult finding the motivation to work out. My hand is raised.
Thinking about going running is a lot easier than actually going running.
Last year, my 11 year old daughter did this race with me for the first time. We trained together for a few weeks prior – and it was nice to have a reason to get out of the house and breathe in some fresh air.
Our family is a technology-driven, indoor kinda family, and we have to find reasons to force ourselves outside. If we aren’t careful, we will reach new levels of screen time and live an Amazon-delivery life.
This is why I love the World Concern SOS 5k. It’s a family-friendly event. Bring a jogging stroller, bring Fido on a leash – come and walk or run or some hybrid-in-between (that’s my lane!)
Every year, this event gets better. Last year there were food trucks and music and awards after the race. A lot of families stick around and church groups form teams.
If that’s not motivation enough, lets talk about the SOS initiative and World Concern. You are literally saving the lives of children, rescuing them from a horrific situation. Their life story will look different thanks to your registration and fundraising.
This is a simple, fun way to show your own kids how to make a difference, one life at a time.
Plan to walk it if you need to, and maybe jog the last mile? You might surprise yourself. Bring a friend… or come solo and JOIN TEAM SPIRIT 1053!
We’d love to see you at the World Concern SOS 5k on Saturday, May 11th.. You can sign up here!
