In a land before iPads, we had Highlights magazines to keep us company in the dentist’s office waiting room. Often, you could find the Hidden Pictures page. It would show a drawing and then you would find hidden objects and circle them.
Did you know the song “That’s Who I Praise” by Brandon Lake is similar? How many Bible stories and figures can you find tucked in his references?
- “…dance like David…” perhaps is alluding to King David dancing before the Lord with all his might as the Ark of the Covenant was brought to Jerusalem (2 Samuel 6:14)
- “…sing like Silas, tearing down those prison walls” refers to Paul and Silas singing hymns while imprisoned – leading to a miraculous earthquake that opened the prison doors (Acts 16:25-26)
- “Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego….” is a prime example of having unwavering faith amidst seemingly impossible circumstances. When they were thrown into a fiery furnace, God delivered them unharmed! (Daniel 3:16-27)
- “…walk like Moses right through the waves” references Moses leading the Israelites through the parted Red Sea to escape Egyptian pursuit (Exodus 14:21-22)
Did you spot any others? I love how such a catchy song has such a deep impact – a longing to embody the profound faith and trust in God demonstrated by people just like you and me – who place their hope in God alone.
