Peace. You either have it or you don’t. In seasons like this, if we’re being honest with ourselves and if we are willing to admit it out loud…we find ourselves in pockets (or seasons) where peace seems incredibly elusive. This has been a conviction in my life, as I have realized that all too often I look for peace in all the wrong places. I look for peace in the places that the world says I should…but if you’re like me, you find that those promises usually come up empty.
Isaiah 26:3-4: “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.”
There is only one place where we can find peace. It’s not in our money. It’s not in our health. It’s not in our careers. It’s not in the guarantee that we’ll be able to leave our houses to see friends again soon. It is found in the only everlasting rock. The only one who is truly trustworthy. “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you.” If we want peace? Real peace? We set our eyes on Jesus. When we fix our eyes on Jesus, he promises to meet us with peace. Peace that makes no sense to this world. Peace that makes no sense in light of current circumstances. Real peace. So fix your eyes on him. Look to his word. Spend time in prayer. Memorize this verse. Step into the peace that he promises you today.
