Hello, this is Jacinta Tegman. I’m the CEO of CRISTA Ministries and I’m joining you today on this National Day of Prayer. Our government has set aside the first Thursday of every May as a National Day of Prayer. And our history and legacy in the National Day of Prayer is to call on the Lord for our nation. So I’m going to invite you wherever you are right now, to just join with me in this prayer.
Father God, we come to you in the mighty name of Jesus and we lift up our beloved nation to you, Lord. Your word tells us that blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord. And Father, that is our prayer over the United States of America. Lord, we lift our nation to you. When we ask God in your mercy and your grace, that God, your hand would be upon us, that you would protect us, that you would draw men and women, boys and girls into relationship with you and God, we pray that we would truly be a light on a hill.
Lord, we lift up President Biden to you, vice President Harris to you and God, we ask that you would give them great wisdom. Lord, we pray that you would surround them with Godly counsel. Lord, we lift up our legislators to you and both houses and ask God and all the many decisions that they are wrestling with and negotiating and making. Father, may your wisdom be present. God, we speak discernment in Jesus name over that great body. Lord, we lift up Governor Inslee to you. We ask Father that you would lead and guide him and all the many decisions that he must make. And God, we pray for every public servant today, especially those, Lord, who are in the line of protecting our safety. So those who are first responders, our police, our fire departments, God, we know that we live in an age, in a day where there is great unrest.
And Lord, we are just praying that your hand would be upon these public servants, Lord, that you would protect them and God that you would guide them in their very important work. Lord, we think of all the schools. And Lord, we know that we are a nation that is in desperate need of your hand of protection upon our schools. We pray for school boards and administrators, leaders, God, that we would turn to you, Lord, as a nation and specifically in schools, God, to seek your faith to know you. Lord, we pray for revival among the youth of our nation. Father, we acknowledge that we need you. You are our only hope. And yet God, you, your hand is always extended to your people. And so Lord, we take that stand and stand in the gap on behalf of schools and we ask God that you would move mightily. Lord, we thank you for the institution of families and marriages and we know that they are under attack like never before. And so Lord, we lift up families to you, those moms and dads and children, the extended family, those who are having foster care children and those Lord who are even without children, but who long Lord to be included and in community and in family. And so Lord, we pray God that you would just bless those unions, God, and that you would prosper them and that they would Lord, seek your face. Lord, we lift up the churches, Lord, we think of all of the churches in these great United States, and we pray that in every pulpit, Lord, your word would be exalted and preached. We pray that our worries, Lord would be turned over to you. We pray, God, that we would recognize the day and the hour and that which we live and that there would be a great revival across this land and that men and women, boys and girls, would turn to you as their only hope.
Lord, I specifically pray for anyone who feels isolated and alone without hope. Jesus, you are the hope of this world. And on this national day of prayer, we lift our eyes to you. We lift our hearts, our voices to you in prayer, and we say, God, have mercy on our nation. Forgive us our sins. Help us to turn from it and turn towards you. And we pray this in faith, believing God that you are moved in response to the prayers of your people. In Jesus name, we pray this, amen.
God bless you. I encourage you to keep these great United States in your prayers, and especially today on this national day of prayer.
