Last Winter, Melony got a phone call that her mom was not doing well. Immediately after, she felt God’s call to hop on a plane and travel home to visit her mom. Unfortunately, her mother died shortly after. These past few weeks, experiencing the heartache of her first Christmas without her mom, Melony knew she needed to spend the holidays with her dad. Melony submitted her story and was chosen to go Home for the Holidays! Congratulations Melony!

God has blessed me with a fabulous life. Starting with parents who loved HIM and gave me that foundation. The best parents ever! I got the call early one morning last January that mom was not doing well. Not an unusual call about my 84 year old mother. This was the first time that God prompted me to check for a flight home. Miraculously, two hours later I was on the plane. I got to the hospital in time to have a nice talk with mom then she went into a coma and died 10 days later. My 90 yr old dad has had two strokes since then forcing him into assisted living. In 2 days, my sister, that lives close by him, will have surgery and be unable to visit him for several weeks. I would very much love to be there for my dad, especially during Christmas. I didn’t realize how hard the first Christmas without mom would be. Now I wonder how many more I can have with dad. As Christians I KNOW that I will have an eternity of Christmases with them! But I would love to be there for this one.
Thank you for all of those who entered our Home for the Holidays contest. We wish you and your loved ones a Merry Christmas!
