Phew! Do you feel exhausted?! I don’t know about you, but these days I feel I’m the last one to the finish line. It’s the mad dash through the holiday season! Once we enter the Thanksgiving week, I find myself suddenly feeling the days are shorter and the “to do” list has grown exponentially.
Like so many around me, I’m running to the store to pick up the last minute items for the Christmas party, picking out gifts, and decorating the house with all the tinsel and garland I can find. And, of course I spend plenty of my time searching for all the best DIY Pinterest Christmas crafts and posting my favorite “Seasons Greetings” to facebook.
I desperately want to create memories that last forever and moments that our loved ones will cherish. With this, each day seems to dash by in a flash. After I’ve said goodbye to my last guest, and put away the fine china each year, I notice that I’ve missed the opportunity to truly recognize the reason we celebrate in every moment I’ve just created for those I love.
Most years, for every one minute spent celebrating the birth of Jesus I spend ten minutes wrapping, baking and cleaning. This year, I hope to balance the message with the madness. Will you consider joining me as I dedicate more time to remembering the hope behind this holiday?
With the support of area pastors, allmomdoes has put together a special Advent Season Devotional. It’s an opportunity for you and your family to draw closer together this season (daily) and experience the joy and love of Christ through this advent season.
