We are so excited to announce Haley as our Love is on the Air winner! She has won hotel accommodations at The Westin Seattle, Dinner for 2, and a pair of tickets to the TobyMac concert!
Through all 13 deployments, Haley’s husband has gone above and beyond to love his wife. Haley and Sam are celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary this Valentine’s Day!
Here is Haley gushing about her crush:
“In our line of work, marriage is hard work, AND BOY DOES MY MAN DO IT WELL!! When he is gone, he will arrange for flowers to be delivered on special occasions. He will pre buy gifts, wrap them and then hide them around the house. He will write letters and send them snail mail. He will send friends over with special treats for me. He will fly my mom over to me as a surprise. My husband is one in a million and my cup runneth over.”
Congratulations Haley! Wishing you and Sam a very lovely Valentine’s Day weekend – courtesy of our friends at The Westin Seattle!

Hi, I am Erica, the love story collector with Haley, the love story writer from Bremerton. She gushed about her crush on SPIRIT1053.com, and we just had to know more. Haley, welcome to SPIRIT 105.3. Are you ready to share your love story on the radio?
Haley:
Heck yeah!
Erica:
Whenever you’re ready. I love your spirit!
Haley:
Well, okay. My husband and I, we met in high school. He joined the Marine Corps, and so we had five kiddos, and he’s in the infantry, so that means he deploys a lot. He’s gone a lot, and my husband is not a gushy person at all. He is a Marine. He is what he is and I love it. But every deployment that man just shined. I mean, he’d leave love letters or sticky notes just hidden in places. He’d go and buy presents and would wrap ’em up and hide him in the house, so he’d call on my birthday or whenever he could. A lot of times there wasn’t any service and stuff where he was, but whenever he’d get ahold of me, he’d tell me to go find it and we’d dig it out, or he would send friends over with treats, tell him that I was having a rough time, and they’d come over and bring donuts. And one time he flew my mom in to surprise me and said, we’re going to Disneyland. I mean, he just,
Erica:
Haley…
Haley:
Yes. The man was phenomenal. He definitely helped keep me alive back home, so I could help him when he was gone.
Erica:
Wow. How did that affect your family? I mean, your kids, seeing how well he loves you?
Haley:
Oh, yes. They see that, and so the funny thing is, and it almost overwhelms me, but they love me in the same fashion that they saw him do it. So, they will go above and beyond or they’ll write me a note or they’ll buy me a prize. That’s their love language now. It’s actually pretty darn amazing to see that out of my children, to know that that’s what they took away from it.
Erica:
Haley, you must be pretty special. I mean, seriously, is your hubby deployed now?
Haley:
No, no. We actually just retired, I think three days ago.
Erica:
What?
Haley:
Yeah, 23 years in the Marine Corps. Yeah.
Erica:
Oh my goodness. Congratulations. You guys have a lot to celebrate. And now I can totally spill the good beans because you have won our gush about your crush contest. You and your husband, what’s his name?
Haley:
Sam.
Erica:
Mr. Tough guy with the teddy bear heart, Sam. You and Sam are going to be going to see Toby Mack this Saturday night. We’re going to treat y’all to a wonderful dinner and an overnight stay at The Westin Seattle, which is so magical and wonderful.
Haley:
I don’t even have the words. I have no words.
Erica:
I’m so thankful that there are families like yours in our world, but especially here in Washington.
Haley:
Thank you guys so much. Actually, Valentine’s Day is our 20th anniversary, so this will definitely be an awesome plus for it.
Erica:
I mean, it just doesn’t get better. You are the perfect winner. I’m hugging you through the phone. Tell me, what does this radio station mean to you, Haley, especially through the years, what has it meant to you?
Haley:
Well, I’ve had to travel. I’ve had to drive a lot, but we’ve always had you guys playing, and so as I’m driving my kids to school every morning it’s playing, and just fill in their cup, whether they know it or not.
Erica:
I love that. You are just terrific. Just so happy for you. Thank you for being part of the family.
Haley:
Hooray. Thank you guys so much.
Erica:
Happy anniversary. Happy Valentine’s Day. Happy retirement. God bless you!
Haley:
Oh, thank you so much, Erica. I appreciate you.
